A prototype that we will be proposing will improve on the current existing features of the mySejahtera app and also include some new features. One such feature to be included in the new app is a short guide for new users in order to inform them how the app functions and also what kind of service is available to them when using the app. This makes it so that it is more user friendly and new users are able to get used to the app faster.
Furthermore, the new app should make it compulsory for users to register an account or log in in order to use its functions. This allows the government to track the flow of users better by giving them more information to work with such as addresses of some of the previous unknown users who had not registered. It also helps the government when tracking the people who have recently come into contact with a covid 19 patient.
Moving on, the new app provides a map that acts as a hotspot tracker. It locates all the hotspots with a red sign in the google maps and provides the number of cases of each specific location in the past 14 days. This would be more user friendly as the user would just have to hover through the map to figure out if the exact location has any existing covid-19 cases. Besides, it will be more informative for the user to know if that exact location has been infected in the past 14 days rather than just providing the states that are infected in red. This gives us a more accurate result as it does not limit to only a certain distance but it covers the entire country.
Besides that, we will also ensure that the details entered by the user in the new app are fully verified. There will be a status update if the details are verified or not, if it isn’t then the authorities will receive a notification after scanning the user’s QR code to ensure that they do not provide fake information. The user can also add their dependant’s detail and those details will also need to be verified. After adding it, the user’s dependent's name will appear on the screen to show proof that they are the dependent. This is designed especially for young children that don’t own a mobile device and often follow their parents. This increases the convenience of needing to handwrite their details to save time.
To continue, the user is also required to include their profession when registering for an account in this new app. This is because, under certain circumstances such as the conditional movement control order enforced by the government, only the relevant authorities and the workers are allowed to go outside. Hence, if the people that are not supposed to go outside scan the cards, the relevant authorities will be notified and they will be penalized or fined. This will ensure that the citizens that are not allowed to go out obey the government instructions instead of just lying about their profession since there is no solid proof if there is no verified profession. Not just that, the citizens that have been given permission under special circumstances will be updated in the new app itself. Hence, they won’t face a problem when they access different locations.
Besides that, The new app will have an in-app scan button which allows users to manually scan the app. This is needed because some phones which do not have a high-quality camera are unable to detect the QR code although it is right in front of it. This makes it so that the user has to wait for a longer period of time or reposition their phones in order to scan the QR code. With the in-app scan button, users are able to make the app scan whatever the camera is capturing at that moment. This can help reduce the time required for scanning apps and also reduce the number of people queuing as they are waiting for the previous person to finish scanning. This can help prevent cross infection from happening as fewer people are in a queue at any given time.
Other than that, the app will also include multiple languages to better accommodate those who use it. Malaysia is a country with diverse cultures and many people from different backgrounds. This means that some Malaysian are not very fluent in languages such as Malay or English. For example, a couple from china might decide to be a permanent resident of Malaysia and is not very familiar with both English and Malay languages. The app must be able to have different language settings in order to better help them use the app more efficiently.
Moreover, the app will also have a section that records the temperature of the user. This will help in the tracking of approximately what condition of health a user is in on certain dates. This can help provide plausible assistance in tracking when the symptoms of the user contracting covid 19 start appearing. It also helps in tracking the people who are at risk of contracting the disease due to contact with a specific person.
Additionally, the app is also able to be saved as a widget or at any ease of access app. This helps users who have a multitude of apps on their phones to easily get to the app in case they are in a hurry or unable to find the place the app is saved in. This also helps senior citizens in using the app as they do not need to spend too much time finding the app.
